Cognitive - From the Depths (Official Music Video) (2020-2021)
|
Jack was recruited in October of 2020 by songwriter and guitarist, Rob Wharton, of New Jersey-based Death Metal band Cognitive, to create this one-of-a-kind stop-motion music video for the song "From the Depths" off Cognitive's 2021 album "Malevolent Thoughts of a Hastened Extinction" released via Unique Leader Records. The video and song alike are largely influenced by H.P. Lovecraft's 1931 novella entitled "The Shadow Over Innsmouth."
Pre-production began at the beginning of October 2020 and post-production wrapped in January 2021. The video was shot by hand on a tripod-mounted DSLR camera in Jack's basement over the course of ten, 7-hour days, during which more then 1,200 frames were captured. |
Unity Character Design and Animation (2021)Created for my final project submission for the real-time animation course I took in the fall of 2021, this demonstration of the character's design and animation exhibits the 9 animations I created and implemented to bring the character to life.
For this project, I also created a custom script enabling the animations to run correctly and smoothly. |
Data Visualization and Interactive Media (2021)This piece was created for a real-time animation course I took in the Fall of 2021 and was executed via TouchDesigner. The visuals for this project were created using data visualization, depicting isolated deaths in the United States from suicide from 1990 to 2017.
An overview of the mechanics and the deeper meaning of the piece are available in greater depth in the video description. |
Graphic Design
In November 2016, I launched my freelance design company called Simply Brutal Co., in order to provide services to my fellow musicians and artists, as well as to provide a way to bridge the gap between my life-long pursuit of art and my then recent endeavor of music. At the start of 2021, SBC was rebranded to Jack Greenman Creative.
Since 2016, I have worked with over 200 unique clientele, providing services ranging from logo design and artwork packages to video production and animation. |
Photography
Having been interested in photography for several years and having frequently enjoyed brief endeavors with the medium throughout high school, I finally unearthed my love for photography after taking an Intro to Photography course during my first semester in college. Since then, I have been casually expanding upon a photo series entitled "Lights," which he began as part of his final project for that class. I have also had the opportunity to shoot for a small handful of events in the passed year as well, expanding upon my style and range as a photographer.

Experimental Film
|
Hello (2019)In early 2019, I completed my first piece in the genre of experimental film, entitled "Hello," for a film class that semester. Officially made as a "remixed" film, using licensed stock footage to create a allegorical narrative, I attempted to tackle to the biggest question anyone could ask, "What is the meaning of everything?"
|
Symphony (2019)The following semester, I would create another film for a sound design class entitled "Symphony." In this piece, choosing to abandon all semblance of a narrative element, I leaned farther into my love for the abstract and experimental, favoring the conveyance of a mood and a tone over any actual, tangible meaning. However, there is still in fact meaning to this piece: "Chaos has rhythm."

Opus no.1 (Mist & Depravity) (2020)In the spring of 2020, during a course on animation in the physical world, I completed this piece for a "found animation" project, using photographs and the interplay of exposure, focus and slight camera movements to create a rhythmic visual display to compliment a song I composed entitled "Opus no.1 (Mist & Depravity)".
